Peruvian Food For The Soul ~ Chimú Peruvian Soulfood, Los Angeles

… I love Peruvian food, one of my most favorite cuisines, and Chimú has just become one of my favorite places for Peruvian food in Los Angeles.

When Chimú describes itself as Peruvian Soulfood, they really mean it. We had lunch there this past Monday, and it was absolutely the best Peruvian food I’ve ever tasted, explosion of wonderful flavors, all so fresh, it truly made my soul happy.

Sharing some images taken during our lunch at Chimu. Enjoy!

I can totally see where some of Chef Mario’s inspiration comes from, but the fusion and combination of flavors gives a great modern and unique twist to his cooking.

The Peruvian ceviche was so pure and so fresh, perfectly seasoned, full of delicate flavors. The chancho (pork belly) equally amazing, and the ocean trout cooked to such perfection, it was unbelievable good, both paired so perfectly with delicious side dishes, a great experience to our taste buds.

Their menu changes daily, based on the fresh ingredients that are available that day.

Chimú is a casual setting restaurant with a take out window and outdoor seating, located just outside the Grand Central Market, across from Angel’s Flight on Hill Street.

If you live around the L.A. area and have not been to Chimú, you should, and if you are traveling to this part of California, and like good food, perhaps you should make plans to eat at Chimú.

Chef Mario Alberto Orellana along with a great staff is doing a very good job, excellent food, all prepared to order, prices are good, not expensive for what you are getting. Everything we ate on this day was excellent, and extremely fresh. We were completely impressed not just with their food, but with the amazing customer service from everyone working at Chimú. I can’t wait to go back.
