It is great to see how the coffee scene in Los Angeles is growing, and with that it’s adding more greatness to our already amazing coffee community.

Last weekend I had the opportunity to photograph the newly opened Demitasse Coffee Roasters and Brewers in Santa Monica. Perfect location, amazing team, great coffee and tea, superb pastries, and the best hot chocolate. I’m sharing a few detail photos of my shoot at this awesome espresso bar.

Along with their beautiful La Marzocco, Demitasse Santa Monica also has a gorgeous and very sleek Alpha Dominche Steampunk Brewing System, the newest in coffee brewing technology.

Let’s Get Pedaling … and Coffeing ~ 10 Speed Coffee at Pedalers Fork, Calabasas

Yes, there’s coffee in Calabazas, good coffee by the way.

If you know me, then you know how much I love a good cup of coffee, therefore I’ve been looking forward to the opening of this coffee bar, and I am happy to see that it is finally here. 10 Speed Coffee at Pedalers Fork, a newly opened beautiful Espresso Bar in the same venue as a Restaurant, a Bar, a Moots Bikes Boutique, and a Full Service Bicycle Shop.

I didn’t try the food at the restaurant, since my main purpose was to check the espresso bar and try their coffee. I found good coffee, humble and friendly knowledgeable baristas, a very nice, small, but comfortable coffee bar. A little bit of a Portland feel within the coffee area, and that’s a great thing to see. I will visit anytime I am near that area, and I can also see myself driving to Calabazas just for the coffee. The Magic Hour ~ Healing and Inspiring California Beaches

I always look forward to those weekends when I have the opportunity to drive to the coast, eat something new and good, drink amazing coffee somewhere along the way, and a much needed walk by a beautiful California beach. For me it is just the perfect lift me up, especially after a rough week.

It’s been great for coffee lovers in Los Angeles, many coffee bar openings lately, and I am quite happy about that, but this grand opening is the one that truly makes me the happiest.

Here are a few images from the December 1st., pre opening party of Cognoscenti Coffee. Great to see how LA’s coffee community comes together and support each other in such a nice way.

A couple of months ago I came across a tweet from someone I follow on Twitter where she pointed to this magazine, I followed the link and immediately fell in love with its content, layout and amazing photography. Wayfare is a beautifully designed magazine with a focus on travel. If you have time go ahead and take a look, I have the feeling that you are going to love it too.

Most likely I won’t be traveling anywhere far this summer, therefore I am happily being a traveler in L.A. and its surrounding cities, and it’s nice to find great new coffee bars, bakeries and eateries that are coming near or not too far from home. Do you know of any that I should try? Please let me know!

I love this coffee bar in Long Beach!

Last Saturday I had the opportunity to visit this new (three months old) coffee bar in the Alamitos Beach neighborhood of Long Beach. Beautiful coffee bar, very comfortable layout, a simple but complete coffee menu, great ambiance, friendly people, and most importantly good coffee! I will most definitely return.
Lord Windsor is owned by the husband and wife team of Wade and Lindsay Ries Windsor.

They roast their coffee on site, their motto is “do it right, roast it light” and it shows.

Tuesday, May 29, 2012, exciting evening for the amazing people behind Café Dulcé, the soft opening of Cafe Dulce Pop/Hold Up Espresso Bar in Downtown Los Angeles. I am happy and quite glad to have had the opportunity to be there and capture some moments of that very special evening, with great people, a beautiful, comfortable and unique space, awesome art, good friends, and very good Stumptown Coffee.

One of my favorite things to do, be a weekend, a day off, or a holiday is to hit the road to beautiful Santa Barbara just about an hour and thirty minutes away from home, and during one of those visits about 6 months ago we spotted a sign that read Handlebar Coffee Roasters Opening Soon, on Canon Perdido, not too far from the location of the weekly SB Farmers Market. When I got home I looked for more information about it and found Handlebar Coffee Roaster’s website/blog, since then I’d been following them on their blog and twitter waiting for an announcement about their grand opening… until early November when they wrote:

Tires are pumped….the doors are open!

So finally last weekend we drove to Santa Barbara and visit Handlebar Coffee, beautiful space, they have their roaster onsite, their coffee is great, and the location is just perfect for a place to peacefully enjoy a cup of coffee. I love good coffee and I’m always looking for new shops to try and love, so this will definitely be a stop for us when in, near or passing by Santa Barbara.

Handlebar is co owned and operated by former World Class, Professional Cyclists Aaron Olson and Kim Anderson, they are super friendly and love sharing wonderful stories about coffee and bikes, while offering excellent customer service.

There’s a New Bakery in Town ~ Semi Sweet Bakery, Downtown Los Angeles

Yes, there’s a new bakery in beautiful downtown Los Angeles!

Beautiful space, amazing pastries, think classics with a special twist, just plain goodness. We visited last Saturday right at closing time when many of their items were already sold out, but we still were able to try their pop tarts, red velvet ding dongs, 7-up lemon pound cake… all absolutely amazing.

Perhaps it was about a year ago when I read about Semi Sweet coming to downtown, and I’d been waiting for their debut since, totally worth the wait.

Semi Sweet is owned by two great pastry chefs with very impressive backgrounds, Sharlena Fong and Dennis Hunter. I’m so very happy about this bakery, a beautiful an delicious asset to downtown L.A.
