About a week ago included in my weekend plans was a stop by a new coffee bar in San Fernando, I did not know much about it so I had no idea of what to expect. I was quite surprised to find a beautiful coffee bar, with a fantastic concept, great coffee program in a very humble and beautiful atmosphere. Gorgeous ceramic tile wall behind the bar, beautiful counters, lighting, hand made in Mexico ceramics, warm decor inspired by Mexican family traditions, a beautifully designed coffee bar and pastry shop that feels quite good. It was also great to find that Compañia de Café coffee program is directed by an excellent barista that I’ve know for a few years now, Percy Ramirez. Percy is doing such an amazing job directing coffee, they have the familiar specialty coffee menu plus signature drinks, and their own take on classic Mexico inspired drinks. At this time they are serving fantastic coffees from George Howell Coffee, Heart Roasters, and 49th Parallel. I left the shop knowing that I had to go back and bring some of my coffee friends with me. So coffee with coffee friends happened a few days later. The pastry program at Compañia de Café is by pastry chef Tamara Davis, who was once responsible for the pastry selections at Boule and Bottega Louie. They offer traditional Mexican inspired pastries and great empanadas at this México inspired, Coffee and Pastry Bar.
Special thanks to Percy and to everyone at Compañia de Café for their awesome hospitality.
