… amazingly good coffee in the OC at the recently opened Portola Coffee Lab.
I’ve been traveling to San Diego often during the past two months, and I’ve been planning my drive around Portola Coffee Lab’s opening hours, it is an incentive for waking up early, it feels good to hit the road thinking that just about 80 miles ahead, about half way to San Diego, I am going to start my day drinking an amazing cup of coffee. What can I say, I love good coffee and Portola Coffee Lab is in my honest opinion as good as it gets in Orange County, and perhaps many miles around.

A beautiful coffee bar, coffee roasted on-site, comfortably fresh setting, state of the art equipment, and a very convenient location.
There are many coffee options at Portola, you can choose your coffee from either their beautiful Slayer espresso machine, Bunn Trifectas, Hario Halogen-Heated Syphon Bar or from their v60 pour over bar.
Portola offers an excellent coffee, perfectly crafted by highly skilled baristas.

Can’t go wrong with Portola Coffee Lab, absolutely the best coffee paired with excellent pastries from a local baker.
In my opinion, Portola Coffee Lab is a vibrant, beautifully designed, very comfortable and classy coffee bar, but not pretentious, it seems that they are just trying to do and offer their best while taking coffee seriously.

On our first visit to Portola about 2 months ago, we had the opportunity to meet and speak briefly with Portola’s owner and roaster Jeff Duggan. I can tell you that he is a very kind and humble man with a very nice attitude, a great knowledge and respect for coffee, and someone who is aiming to bring to his customers the best possible coffee experience they can get, and in my humble opinion that’s exactly what they are achieving.
